Cyber Crime increases 50%
Cyber crime, the mere thought of it scares me, has increased by a hopping 50% in the year 2008 in India according to reports published in The Telegraph of India. In the recent years number of Internet users has gone up highly and so are the people earning online. Many people are anxious to land on a legitimate program online that will give that some extra earning. Taking advantage of this new craze, young computer knowledgeable people are victimizing innocent people of various age groups. The security tips are usual:
- Don’t give money to anybody.
- Don’t give away your personal or confidential bank or card information.
- Keep your password well protected and change them after some time span.
- Use proper security software.
The hub of majority of cuber criminals are shockingly people of small towns like Bhopal instead of being from big Metropolitan. Beware and don’t trust anybody in the virtual world. If anything sounds too good to be true then it is so.A man was recently contacted by a online person in a chat community who asked him to gather few young computer programmes and send their information for a company for which he will be paid a sizable commission. The man did as told and never got paid.Online dating sites and matrimonial sites are getting filled by more scrupulous people so don’t contact anyone unverified from these sites. If you plan a meeting with anybody from the online world then please don’t be alone and refuse to go to any private place or the person’s house. Meet in public areas.Internet is a boon and let it be so. As the elders say and we don’t listen- “Precaution is better than cure” .Have a safe online surfing experience.
