Child sexual abuse

Published by arthi at 12:07 pm under Children Edit This

The first thought of something as cruel sends down shivers through me. Children are the most beautiful creation and when an adult uses the innocence of the child for satisfying the twisted sexual needs, it becomes a sin unforgivable. The facts about sexual abuse of children in India came to attention and got due concern before few years. When the official study launched by the Indian Government in 2007 was published it showed that more than 50% of the case studies revealed the children had been sexually abused. What are the things that can be classified as sexual abuse of a child? These are the answers:

  •  Sexual exploitation where an adult victimizes a child sexually for personal benefits like prostituting a child.
  • Sexual grooming where the child is shown or taught in any manner the sexual activities as it discomforts a child.
  • Sexual assault where a child is used as a means for satisfying desire.

Whats painful is that in most cases these children are abused by relatives or acquaintances thus making life for the child miserable. In worst scenarios the children are abused by their parents and don’t shun me for writing this, trusts me its a sad and unfortunate truth. Imagine the trauma, both physically and mentally, a child goes through. They lose trust and respect for humanity. But that’s not all. Most of the times these children suffers serious physical and mental ailments even later in their grown up days.  Its a duty of all of us to make sure that our children can come up frankly with any problem they face to us and also be aware of sudden changes in them. Protect them, they are our future.
